Hey Buddy! How are you?

I’m here again to talk about another interesting topic “Artificial Sun”. Every country is in the race when it comes to technology. So what is an artificial sun and why do you need that. Before moving further into the topic, do read my previous post on Artificial Moon, you will find this a very interesting one.

What is Artificial Sun?

China’s artificial sun project is a huge one which involves scientists from 35 different countries using nuclear fusion. So the question that will hit your head is, why do we need artificial sun?

Researchers are using a device called HL-2M Tokamak, which uses the powerful magnetic field to generate hot Plasma.

Artificial Sun’s plasma can generate power six times more than the natural sun. Is it possible? The answer is yes. Because their first operation with the artificial sun-generated electron temperature of 100 million degree Celsius whereas the natural sun’s electron temperature is about 15 million degrees at its core. This will not be launched like a satellite and it will continue operating in the earth itself.

Why Artificial Sun?

As per Chinese media reports, the early trials have allowed researchers to create stunningly high temperatures.

The artificial sun or the HL-2M Tokamak is designed to mimic the nuclear fusion process that happens naturally in sun and stars to provide almost infinite clean energy through controlled nuclear fusion. They need to achieve cheap, clean, near-limitless nuclear fusion energy. Executing the process of nuclear fusion is not the simplest thing. Added that this is different from Solar energy as well.

While they generate 100 million degrees of electron temperature, they can still able to produce only 50 million degrees of ion temperature. So they are conducting a lot of experiments to get the ion temperature around 100 million degree celsius. Achieving the above temperature will be the greatest challenge of the artificial sun project, an official of the Chinese National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said to the state-run Global Times.

But to bring up the ion temperature to that extent, they need higher device parameters, injects and absorbs more energy, and make it operate in a more advanced mode, Duan said to the media reports.

When compared to China’s artificial moon project, this seems a bit easier to implement the process and they have done that in the previous experiments. This article sun project is called as operation International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) which is a large international scientific project that is a global collaboration of 35 countries, including China, Russia and the US.

With this economical problem due to Covid-19 virus among the US, China and Russia, will they make it a successful one? Put down your suggestions and feedback in the comments section below without any hesitation. Thank you for reading patiently. We will meet sooner in the post.
